The Ministry of Commerce has decided to form a sub-committee of 9 members to formulate the e-commerce law.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the ministry on Tuesday.
The meeting was chaired by AHM Safiquzzaman, convener of the committee, who is also an additional secretary of the ministry.
Representatives of the 16-member committee, including e-Cab President Shami Kaiser and Vice-President Shahab Uddin, were present at the meeting, among others.
The new committee will include representatives from the Ministry of Commerce, Legislative Division of Ministry of Home Affairs, e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh, Department of Consumer Protection, Bangladesh Competition Commission, Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services, Bangladesh Bank's Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit.
Earlier on September 28, two committees were formed by the ministry of commerce to take steps for drafting a new law and establish an authority to protect the e-commerce sector and restore order in it.
The first meeting of the committees was held on Tuesday.
