Mentioning Bangladesh has been going forward towards industrialisation, Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud on Saturday urged FBCCI members to protect "environment" properly while operating factories in the country for the sake of future generations.
The minister also urged the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) to play a significant role to check unnecessary price hikes on various products.
"People have been suffering due to unnecessary price hikes of different products by unscrupulous businesses and some middlemen. Therefore, the FBCCI should play a role with the government to control market prices," the minister said while addressing a programme at the FBCCI auditorium in the capital.
During the programme, the minister inaugurated the Mujib Corner and Directors' Lounge at the apex trade body office.
"Bangladesh will attain the status of upper-middle income country by 2031 and developed country by 2041. So, we all have to work together in this regard," he added.
In his speech, FBCCI President Md Jashim Uddin urged the government to lay emphasis on creating more skill manpower as different industries are suffering from the crisis.
