The prices of gold have gone up to Tk 93,400 a bhori (11.66 grams) – a record high – in the local market, Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) said on Saturday.

BAJUS made the decision because of the price hike of gold in the local bullion market, the association said in a press release. The new prices will come into effect from Sunday.

According to the release, the price of 22-carat gold has been increased to Tk 93,400 per bhori, 21-carat gold to Tk 89,140 per bhori, and 18-carat gold to Tk 76,431 per bhori. The price of traditional gold has been increased to Tk 63,663 per bhori.

The price of gold was Tk 90,714 per bhori until Saturday, which was raised from Tk 88,382 per bhori on December 30.

BAJUS has also increased the prices of silver.
