Gold prices in the country's market have increased again in two weeks by Tk 2,041 following a rise in the international market.
The decision of the price hike, effective from May 23, Bangladesh Jewelers Samity said in a press release on May 22.
Dewan Aminul Islam, vice-president of the Bangladesh Jewelers Samity (BAJUS), said the decision was made considering the increase in prices in the international market and several other global financial issues.
Prices of gold earlier on May 10 rose by Tk 2,333.
Under the increased rates, 22-carat gold will be sold at Tk 73,483 per bhori, 21-carat gold at Tk 70,334, and 18-carat gold will be sold at Tk 61,586 per bhori in the local market.
Besides, the price for the traditional method gold has been fixed at Tk 51,263.
Before the price hike, 22-carat gold was sold at Tk 71,442, 21-carat gold at Tk 68,293, 18-carat gold at Tk 59,545 and the traditional gold at Tk 49,222.
BAJUS has kept the price of silver unchanged at Tk 933 per bhori despite the rise in gold prices.
