The government has increased the retail price of bottled soybean oil by Tk 8 per litre to Tk 168.
The National Price Monitoring and Fixing Committee under the Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission fixed the price after a meeting on Sunday.
According to the fresh decision, the price of each five-litre bottle of soybean oil will go up by Tk 35 to Tk 795.
The committee also set the price of unpacked soybean oil which has been increased by Tk 7 per litre to Tk 143.
Earlier in January, the Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Vanaspati Manufacturers Association proposed increasing the maximum retail price of edible oil by Tk 8 to Tk 168 per litre.
On October 19 last year, the price of bottled soybean oil was set at Tk 160, with an increase of Tk 7 per litre.
