The High Court dismissed a rule it issued earlier asking the authorities why their inaction to stop the election of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) should not be declared illegal.
HC's virtual bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Sardar Md Rashed Jahangir passed the order on Sunday after a hearing in this regard paving the way for the election, scheduled on May 5.
The HC issued its previous rule on April 20 responding to a petition filed by FBCCI general body member Amin Uddin Dipu.
Khurshid Alam Khan and HM Sanjid Siddique stood for the writ petitioner on Sunday while Imtiaz Moinul Islam represented the FBCCI election board.
