Hotlines set up to shoot freight troubles

In a bid to ensure supply of essential goods during the strict lockdown to be enforced from Wednesday, the Ministry of Commerce has opened a control cell to provide necessary support in case of any obstacle in transportation of goods.

People involved in transportation, marketing, and imports will be able to get services through three hotlines — 01712168917, 0173819106 and 01756173560.

In a statement, the Ministry of Commerce made the announcement on Tuesday.

According to the statement, if there is any problem regarding the freighting, marketing, imports of essential goods, businesspeople will get necessary assistance through the hotlines.

The government earlier on Monday announced wider restrictions for one week, starting from 6:00 am on April 14 to curb COVID-19 infections amid a sharp rise in cases.

All public transports, including domestic and international flights, will be suspended while markets and shopping malls will remain closed during the restriction period.

The offices of all public, private and autonomous bodies will also remain closed during this period, it said.
