For many fashion enthusiasts, clothing giant Yellow is synonymous with comfort and elegance.
The brand, a sister concern of Beximco, which innovates new lines of clothing now and then since its inception in 2004, is facing a downfall in their sales, says Raihan Kabir, marketing lead of Yellow.
“Over thirty per cent of our total sales come before Eid-ul-Fitr. But due to the ongoing Covid-19 lockdown, our shops remained closed for the first half of Ramadan,” he said.
The last half of the month before Eid is seeing a drop in sales, according to Kabir, because the government fixed a timeframe for malls to stay open and limited consumer movement.
Even after installing a disinfection chamber at the entrance point, embargoing physical trial of outfits on customers to avoid virus contamination, and following WHO’s Covid-19 guidelines, only a handful of shoppers were seen visiting its Dhanmondi Flagship showroom from Thursday morning to noon.
Sanjida Afrin, mother of two teenage boys, came to the Yellow showroom on Thursday to do some Eid shopping for her whole family. According to her, the products of this brand are fascinating and it is a one-stop-shop for wardrobe and home decor.
“Products are a bit pricey here but the fabrics and the creative, comfortable designs are worth every penny,” Afrin explained.
Yellow, seeing a market opportunity in safety devices, introduced washable and reusable non-medical masks to the fashion world in early April of last year.
Made of washable cotton fabric for a firm and comfortable fit, each mask has a non-dyed soft inner layer to avoid skin irritation.
It now sells an array of facemasks of different categories — essential, fashion, embroidery, technical and denim — for men, women and children.
These masks are available at its 15 stores excluding the one in Khulna that is going to start operation this Sunday.
Besides its physical showrooms, Yellow now offers a one-stop shopping website for all its stores: https://yellowclothing.net/ for both home and abroad from where people can buy formal and casual wears.
