PRAN Dairy Limited, one of the leading dairy product processors of the country, has continued to collect milk from its contractual dairy farmers at a coronavirus-induced lockdown period when farmers are facing difficulties in selling milk.
PRAN is creating awareness among the farmers so that the act of milk collection and supply can be done following proper health guidelines as Covid-19 has been increased, the organisation said in a press release on Monday.
“We always collect milk from our 12 thousand contractual farmers regularly. Now, dairy farmers cannot sell milk as hotels and sweet shops are now closed. But we are collecting milk from the farmers the whole amount they are carrying to our centres,” said Maksudur Rahman, Assistant General Manager (Operation) at PRAN Dairy.
“We are providing the products among the customer’s doorstep at various metropolitan areas including Dhaka, Sylhet and Chattogram after processing at our factory,” he added.
He also said that PRAN has five hubs located in Chatmohar of Pabna, Gurudaspur of Natore, Shahjadpur and Baghabari of Sirajganj and Rangpur. There are 101 collection centres under the hubs.
“Recently, we have taken initiatives to increase our collection centre in the southern region. Meanwhile, we have set up some collection centres at Satkhira. Farmers are supplying milk at the collection and chilling centres maintaining social distance and following health guidelines,” Maksudur Rahman added.
“We are able to provide products to the customers due to the government move to keep the supply of agriculture, dairy and other essential products open,” said Kamruzzaman Kamal, Marketing Director at PRAN-RFL Group, according to the media release.
He also said that they are delivering PRAN liquid milk, ghee, milk powder, flavoured milk, yoghurt, cheese, butter through Daily Shopping, Shwapno, Agora and e-commerce site othoba.com and chaldal.com.
