Trading Corporation of Bangladesh will continue selling essential products for Ramadan until May 9 amid an ongoing lockdown to curb the spread of Covid-19 infection.
TCB spokesperson Humayun Kabir confirmed the matter to The Business Post on Thursday.
The TCB on April 1 started selling essential commodities at low prices through more than 3,000 dealers and their trucks across Bangladesh.
Currently, 520 trucks are involved in TCB product sales across the country, among which 120 trucks are operating in the capital.
The quantity of edible soybean oil increased to 1,400 litres from 1,200 litres for each truck due to high demand.
TCB has been selling soybean oil at Tk 100 per litre, sugar, chickpeas and lentil at Tk 55 per kg, date at Tk 80 per kg and onion at Tk 20 per kg.
Each customer can purchase a maximum of five litres of edible oil, four kg of sugar, chickpeas and lentil each, and one to two kg of dates at a time in a single day.
