Producers of technology-assisted handicrafts will be able to get cash incentive against their export from now on.
Earlier, the incentive was given for only handmade handicraft products.
The Bangladesh Bank on Thursday in a notice said that handicraft products made of hogla, sugarcane, apparel waste, coconut coir which were produced with assistance of modern technology alongside physical labour would be able to get cash incentive against export.
The central bank notice said that there should be direct involvement of physical labour along with use of modern technology equipment in manufacturing activities.
The notice also said that registration with a supporting authority was mandatory for availing the cash incentive.
The government in September 2019 announced cash incentives against export of products under 37 categories including handicrafts.
