The US Trade Show will enthuse foreign investors to invest in different sectors of Bangladesh and the country welcomes them to do so, said Commerce Ministry Tipu Munshi on Thursday.

The minister made the statement while speaking as a chief guest at the opening ceremony of the 28th US Trade Show 2022. He thanked all the participants and said, “The bilateral trade between the US and Bangladesh has increased in the post-Covid period.”

Meanwhile, US Ambassador to Bangladesh Peter D Haas said that the trade show will build good ties between Bangladesh and his country.

"I am confident that we can grow this trade and investment relationship even more. There are lots of opportunities to increase sales of US goods and services here in Bangladesh. Especially in emerging sectors such as renewable energy and digital economy, which will help the country to increase and improve its already impressive economic development.'

“Bangladesh is a fast-growing country. It will achieve LDC graduation by 2026 and development country' status by 2041,” he added.

Arun Venkataraman, assistant secretary of Commerce for Global Markets and director general of US and Foreign Commercial Service, said, “US companies have the opportunity to invest in significant sectors of Bangladesh like energy, blue economy, ICT, and agriculture.”

"The trade show will help to share different business issues," he added.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) and the United States Embassy in Dhaka are co-sponsoring the three-day-long trade show from October 27 to 29.

AmCham President Syed Ershad Ahmed said the trade show will further strengthen the diplomatic relationship of 50 years.

“The trade show is building a strong collaboration,” he added.

This year hundreds of US products represented by 44 exhibitors from home and abroad (occupying 76 booths) are displaying their products at the event.
