From now on, a Bangladeshi tourist will need to pay 15 US dollars instead of existing $100 per night while staying in Bhutan under the Sustainable Development Fees (SDF).

Bhutan’s Department of Tourism notified the Bangladesh foreign ministry that it has revised its visa policy for Bangladeshi tourists and it came into effect from Sunday, reports BSS.

The amount is equivalent to the fees levied on Indian tourists, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday.

Under the new policy, 15,000 Bangladeshi tourists will be able to travel to Bhutan annually with reduced fees of $15.

Previously, in June 2022, Bhutan raised the SDF from $65 to $200 per person per night, which was revised to $100 per person per night from June 2023.

Bangladesh and Bhutan enjoy a special relationship, which has been further consolidated under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in recent years, said the foreign ministry.
