State Minister of Aviation and Tourism Mahbub Ali on Thursday said the government has been working to simplify visa processing for foreign tourists.
He said it while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the 18th International Tourism Fair 'Triplover Dhaka Travel Mart-2022' at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the capital.
“We must ease the difficulties of the visa process for the foreign tourists. Keeping in mind the tourist sector, we are working toward simplifying the processing of tourist visa,” the state minister said.
“There are no beaches in the seven eastern states of India; even there is no beach in Nepal and Bhutan also. It will be beneficial for us if we can attract them to our country. We will have a quick inter-ministerial meeting with the Ministry of Home Affairs in this regard. We will also call the stakeholders related to the tourism sector there,” he added.
The 3-day tourist fair will remain open from 10:00am to 8:00pm. The entry fee is Rs 40 per person. A raffle draw will be held on the closing day.
Triplover, an online travel agency, is the title sponsor of Dhaka Travel Mart 2022 and US-Bangla Airlines co-sponsored the event . Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Bangladesh Tourism Board, and Bangladesh Tourism Corporation are cooperating partners.
The event was presided over by the organizer of the fair Bangladesh Monitor's Secretary Kazi Wahidul Alam, BSEC Chairman Prof Shibli Rubayet-Ul-Islam, FBCCI President Jasim Uddin, Bangladesh Tourism Corporation Chairman Ali Kadar, Bangladesh Tourism Board Acting Chief Executive Officer Abu Tahir Md Jaber, Biman Bangladesh Airlines Limited Director Administration Zahid Hossain, US-Bangla Airlines Managing Director Abdullah Al Mamun and NovoAir Managing Director Mofizur Rahman spoke at the event.
The three-day fair, which started on June 2, will end on June 4. About 50 local and foreign companies are participating this year. These include national travel agencies, airlines, tour operators, hotels, resorts, travel agencies, online travel agencies, and healthcare providers.
