Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) is making Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) PPE, sanitisers, masks and medicines to meet their growing demand the country fights to tackle coronavirus.

The medical equipment are being produced following the health guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), said AHM Masum Billa, Senior Public Relation Officer of Industries Ministry.

The equipment will be given to Bangladesh Army, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) and hospitals in all districts, he said.

Healthcare professionals have been raising concerns over the shortage of PPE at hospitals for doctors and nurses who are on the frontline of fight against coronavirus.

Panic buying on the other hand created a shortage of hand sanitisers and masks in the market and pushed up their prices.
