The Bangladesh Bank on Monday announced a set of special incentive for bankers who will only work 10 days in a month at offices during the ongoing general holidays due to coronavirus outbreak.

The notice was issued in the context of providing special incentive allowances to the officers and employees working in the bank amidst the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.

The notice also reads, officers and employees shall be entitled to monthly special incentive allowance equal to their basic salary.

Temporary or contractual officers and employees will get 65 percent of their basic salaries as special incentive allowance monthly which is minimum Tk 30,000 and maximum Tk 1,00,000.

The days will be counted from the first day of the general holidays till the end. 

The central bank also ordered bank authorities to implement its 16-point charter of recommendations to prevent the risk of community transmission of the virus. It also called on banks to seek assistance from the local administration to ensure that clients, visitors and staffers follow the social distancing measures.

A number of bankers have already been infected with the novel coronavirus in the course of their work during the nationwide shutdown.

The government has moved to acknowledge their efforts to continue working despite exposing both themselves and their families by drawing up a special allowance scheme for central bank also ordered bank authorities to implement its 16-point charter of recommendations to prevent the risk of community transmission of the virus.
