Bangladesh Bank (BB) has directed the authorities concerned of all banks to keep their branches in different industrial areas open amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The decision will come into effect from Sunday (April 19). The Department of Off-site Supervision, BB issued a notification in this regard Thursday (April 16).
“At least one branch of all banks must remain open on emergency basis, upon consultation with the respective metropolitan, district and upazila administration across the country,” said the notice.
The notice also states that banks with online banking facilities should keep required number of branches open considering the convenience of customers. It also reads all branches of non-online banks should remain open in the meantime.
The central bank also asked the authorities to ensure adequate supply of banknotes in ATM booths.
