Banglalink, the second largest telecom operator of the country, will provide relief materials to 14,500 marginalised families affected by the current coronavirus pandemic.

Each family will get 5 kg rice, 1 kg pulse, 1 litre oil, half kg semolina, 1 kg sugar, 1 kg salt and two soaps.

Banglalink made the announcement on Wednesday after meeting with Post and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar.

Erik Aas, Chief Executive Officer Banglalink said “We want to extend our helping hand to the affected families on consideration of the economic impact of coronavirus. In this crisis, we have social responsibility to ensure social safety by standing beside the distressed people”.

Hailing the decision of Banglalink to help poor people with relief, Post and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar said: “I congratulate Banglalink on my behalf as they are going to help poor people with relief during this crisis. I also hope that Banglalink will also stand by the people in the coming days as they look willing to bail poor people out in this difficult time”.

This relief will be distributed with the help of Bangladesh army and Bangladesh Sena Kalyan Sangstha.
