The government has disbursed Tk 2,000 crore as the first installment of the incentive package announced for export-oriented industries including the readymade garment factories.
The finance division on Monday informed the Bangladesh Bank about released of the said fund, according to finance ministry sources.
The release letter of finance division said, firms that export at least 80% of their products will be able to pay their workers from this fund.
However, this fund cannot be used for payment of salaries of any official, the release read.
Besides, the institutions which announced lay-off will not get loan facility from this fund.
According to the ministry, the condition of ancillary information has been relaxed in the first installment of the loan, including the preparation of a list of workers (data base) to avoid complications in paying salaries in a short time.
According to the policy, banks will send wages directly to the workers' bank account or mobile banking (MFS) account.
