Covid-19: Global death toll crosses 190,000

The global death toll from the novel coronavirus infection reached 190,788 on Friday morning, according to the data provided by Johns Hopkins University.

So far, 2,707,356 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.

Of those infected, 1,782,425 are currently being treated and 58,678 of them are in serious or critical condition, says worldometer.

So far, 738,257 people have recovered.

In Bangladesh, seven more people died of novel coronavirus over the last 24 hours as of Thursday, taking the toll to 127.

Besides, 414 more people tested positive for coronavirus during the period, raising the number of positive cases in the country to 4,186.
