Coronavirus: Global death toll reaches 195,920

The global deaths from the novel coronavirus infection reached 195,920 as of Saturday morning, according to the data provided by Johns Hopkins University.

So far, 2,790,986 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.

Of those infected, 1,834,034 are currently being treated and 58,523 of them are in serious or critical condition, says worldometer.

So far, 781,382 people have recovered.

In Bangladesh, record 503 new patients tested positive and four people died from Covid-19 over the last 24 hours as of Friday, taking the death toll to 131.

The total number of positive cases in the country increased to 4,689 during the period as well.
