The global deaths from the novel coronavirus infection reached 227,638 as of Thursday morning, according to the data provided by Johns Hopkins University.
So far, 3,193,886 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.
Of them, 1,931,944 are currently being treated and 59,811 of them are in serious or critical condition, says worldometer.
So far, 972,719 people have recovered.
In Bangladesh, a record 641 more people tested positive for novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours as of Wednesday, which makes 7,103 confirmed cases in total. Besides, eight more people died, taking the toll to 163.
