The global death toll from the novel coronavirus infection reached 233,388 as of Friday morning, according to the Johns Hopkins University tally.
So far, 3,256,846 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.
Of them, 2,031,302 are currently being treated and 50,944 of them are in serious or critical condition, says worldometer.
So far, 1,014,753 people have recovered.
In Bangladesh, five more people died of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours as of Thursday taking the death toll to 168. Besides, 564 new cases were recorded at the same time across the country, taking the total number of infections in the country to 7,667.
