Covid-19: Global death toll reaches 243,808

The global death toll from the novel coronavirus infection reached 243,808 as of Sunday morning, according to the data provided by Johns Hopkins University.

So far, 3,427,343 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.

Of the currently infected 2,130,230 patients, 2,079,372 are in mild condition, which is 98 percent, Worldometer records. 50,858 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition.

So far, 1,093,112 people have recovered.

In Bangladesh, five more people, all of them from Dhaka, died from Covid-19 in the country over the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 175. Besides, 552 more people tested positive which makes 8,790 confirmed cases in total.
