Investors continue lodging complaints amid lockdown

Five share market investors have complained online to get redress even during the government-announced public holiday due to coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent lockdown.

In April, investors lodged five complaints through 'Customer Complaint Address Module', according to the sources in Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC).

According to BSEC figures, investors have filed a total of 237 complaints since the online module was launched on September 30 last year, promising remedies within three weeks of filing complaints. Of these, 219 or 92.41 percent have been resolved. The remaining 18 complaints are in the process of being resolved.

Most of the complaints came in October after the module was launched. The commission received 82 complaints that month. Besides, the commission received 1 complaint in September, 56 in November, 27 in December, 19 in January, 23 in February, 24 in March and. Of these, 4 are in February, 9 are in March and 5 are in April is in the process of being resolved. In other words, all the complaints of the previous 5 months have been settled.

Before the online module was launched, investors had to complain about stock market issues in writing. For this, it was necessary to appear in person. But now that complainant can make staying back at home. There is no barrier to file a complaint even in the case of closure. Investors took the opportunity to file five complaints online in April during the lockdown for coronavirus pandemic.

Meanwhile, investors' complaints are being resolved quickly through this module of BSEC. As a result, there is no need to wait for the settlement of complaints year after year. This online module has also reduced the harassment and costs of the complainant. As a result, the acceptance of this online complaint module is increasing day by day.
