Former Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in Delhi after he complained of chest pain, the Press Trust of India (PTI) reported late on Sunday evening.

Dr Sing was brought to AIIMS at 8.45 pm on Sunday.

He was admitted under Dr Nitish Naik, a professor of cardiology at AIIMS. In 2009, Singh underwent a successful coronary by-pass surgery at the same hospital.

He has been kept under observation at a cardio-thoracic ward.

Singh is a senior leader of the Opposition Congress and currently represents Rajasthan in the Upper House of Parliament. He was the prime minister between 2004 and 2014.
