The global death toll from the novel coronavirus infection reached 285,971 as of Tuesday morning, according to the data provided by Johns Hopkins University.
So far, 4,175,284 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.
Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, 98 percent are in mild condition.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh on Monday reported 1,034 new positive cases for novel coronavirus over the last 24 hours, which is the highest single-day record in new infections so far, taking the toll to 15,691 in total.
Besides, 11 more people died over the last 24 hours, which makes 239 deaths in total.
