The global death toll from the novel coronavirus infection reached 291,942 as of Wednesday morning, according to the Johns Hopkins University tally.

So far, 4,261,747 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.

Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, 98 percent are in mild condition.

Of the currently infected 2,447,018 patients, 2,400,676 are in mild condition, which is 98 percent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. 46,342 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only two.

So far, 1,493,414 people have recovered.

Meanwhile, 11 died from Covid-19 in Bangladesh over the last 24 hours as of Tuesday, taking the death toll to 250. Besides, 969 more people tested positive, which makes 16,660 confirmed cases in total.
