Banks in industrial areas to remain open Friday, Saturday

Bangladesh Bank has directed to keep all scheduled banks in the industrial areas open on May 22 (Friday) and May 23 (Saturday) to facilitate payment of salaries and allowances to workers, employees and officials and to purchase export bills.

The department of off-site supervision of the central bank on Tuesday issued the directive in this regard through a circular. The directive has been sent to the managing directors and chief executive officers of all scheduled banks in the country.

According to the directive, all scheduled bank branches in the garment industry areas in Dhaka city, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, Narayanganj and Chittagong will remain open.

Transaction will run from 10 am to 12 noon on Friday. And the ancillary work after the transaction will continue till 1 pm. Banking transactions will continue on Saturday from 10 am to 2:30 pm while the ancillary work after the transaction will continue till 3:30.
