The global death toll from the novel coronavirus infection reached 355,615 as of Thursday morning, according to the Johns Hopkins University tally.

So far, 5,690,951 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year. 

Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition. 

Among the currently 2,934,523 infected patients, 2,881,548 are in mild condition, which is 98 percent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand, 52,975 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only two. 

So far, 2,350,071 people have recovered.

In Bangladesh, 22 patients died from Covid-19 over the last 24 hours as of Wednesday, taking the death toll to 544. Besides, 1,541 more people tested positive for the virus, which makes 38,292 confirmed cases in total.
