DSE transaction hits 13-year low

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Thursday (June 4) witnessed the lowest turnover in 13 years.

Shares and units of only Tk 42.97 crore were traded at the DSE which is the lowest in more than 13 years, according to DSE sources.

In addition to the decline in total transactions, all indices of DSE also declined.

The key index DSEX fell 10 points to 3,953 points. Among other DSE indices, the Shariah index fell by 3 points, the DSE-30 index by 7 points and the CDSET by 3 points to 915 points, 1,321 points and 782 points respectively.

Shares and units of Tk 42.97 crore were traded at the DSE on Thursday – down by Tk 109.66 crore from Tk 152.63 crore just a day ago.

Of the 309 issues traded, 11 gained, 36 fell while 262 remained unchanged.

On the other hand, the key index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) CASPI rose by 6 points to 11,237 points. Shares and units of merely Tk 4.59 crore were traded at the CSE.

Among the 103 issues traded, 9 gained, 19 declined and 75 remained unchanged.
