Cash dividends can be distributed before Sept 30

The Bangladesh Bank has allowed the distribution of dividends before September 30 in favor of local and foreign investors.

The Department of Off-Site Supervision of Bangladesh Bank on Sunday (June 7) issued a notification in this regard.

According to the circular, the DOS circular issued by Bangladesh Bank on May 11, 2020 instructed that the cash dividends declared by the banks for the year 2019 could not be distributed before September 30, 2020.

 However, in order to safeguard the further interests of the general investors in the capital market, it has been decided that the cash dividend for the year 2019 will be declared and can be deliveredbefore 30 September 2019, subject to compliance with the aforesaid circulars and other laws of Bangladesh Bank in favor of individual (local and foreign) investors only.
