Stocks gain after four-day fall

Stocks on both the bourses posted modest gains on Sunday snapping a four-day losing streak.

The key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange DSEX rose 8 points to 3,961 points. Among other DSE indices, the Shariah index rose by 3 points and the DSE-30 index by 6 points to 918 points and 1,327 points respectively.

Shares and units of Tk70.02 crore were traded at the DSE on Sunday – up by Tk27.05 crore from Tk42.97 crore just a working day ago. Of the 293 issues traded, 18 gained, 19 fell while 256 remained unchanged.

On the other hand, the key index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) CASPI rose by 23 points to 11,260 points. Shares and units of merely Tk9.76 crore were traded at the CSE.

Among the 90 issues traded during the day, 15 gained, 16 declined and 59 remained unchanged.
