Stocks again go on falling spree

After going into free fall for four consecutive working days last week, the stock markets rose on Sunday but all indices on Monday once again went on a falling spree. All the indices of both the stock markets declined on June 8—2nd day of the week.

However, the amount of money traded on the DSE has increased from the previous day, exceeding Tk 100 crore. The share and unit prices of most of the companies participating in the transactions remained unchanged, according to sources in Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchange (DSE and CSE).

Today the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange DSEX fell 5 points to 3,956 points. Among other DSE indices, the Shariah Index fell by 1 point, the DSE-30 index by 3 points and the CDSET by 1 point to 917 points, 1,324 points and 784 points respectively.

Shares and units of Tk 106 crore were traded at the DSE on Monday – up by Tk 35.98 crore from Tk 70.02 crore just a day ago. Of the 283 issues traded, 12 gained, 24 fell while 247 remained unchanged.

Meanwhile, today the key index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) CASPI fell by 11 points to 11,249 points. Shares and units of merely Tk 1.51 crore were traded at the CSE.

Among the 91 issues traded during the day, 10 gained, 16 declined and 65 remained unchanged.
