Stocks gain but turnover drops

Stocks on both the bourses posted modest gains on Wednesday. However, the amount of money transactions decreased from the previous day.

The share and unit prices of most of the companies participating in the transaction remained unchanged.

The key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange DSEX rose 4 points to 3,966 points. Among other DSE indices, the Shariah index rose by 1 point, the DSE-30 index by 3 points and the CDSET by 1 point to 919 points, 1,332 points and 787 points respectively.

Shares and units of Tk59.44 crore were traded on the DSE on Tuesday – down by Tk8.27 crore from Tk67.71 crore just a day ago. Of the 274 issues traded, 24 gained, 15 fell while 235 remained unchanged.

On the other hand, the key index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange CASPI rose by 14 points to 11,258 points. Shares and units of Tk2.21 crore were traded on the CSE.

Among the 87 issues traded during the day, 21 gained, 8 declined and 58 remained unchanged.
