The global death toll from the novel coronavirus infection reached 420,993 as of Friday morning, according to the Johns Hopkins University tally.

So far, 7,500,777 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.

Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.

Among the currently 3,330,634 infected patients, 3,276,732 are in mild condition, which is 98 percent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand, 53,902 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only two.

So far, 3,532,575 people have recovered.

In Bangladesh, 37 patients died from Covid-19 over the last 24 hours as of Thursday, taking the death toll to 1,049. Besides, 3,187 more people tested positive for the virus, which makes 78,052 confirmed cases in total.
