Stocks on both the bourses fell on Sunday – the first working day after the budget announcement – due to a lack of investors' confidence.

However, the amount of money traded during the day increased slightly from the previous session.

The key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange DSEX fell 3 points to 3,964 points. Among other DSE indices, the Shariah index fell by 0.22 point, the DSE-30 index by 3 points and the CDSET by 1 point to 919 points, 1,329 points and 786 points respectively.

Shares and units of Tk53.88 crore were traded on the DSE on Sunday – up by Tk2.78 crore from Tk51.10 crore just a working day ago. Of the 298 issues traded, 27 gained, 24 fell while 247 remained unchanged.

On the other hand, the key index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) CASPI fell by 8 points to 11,259 points. Shares and units of merely Tk2.45 crore were traded on the CSE.

Among the 101 issues traded during the day, 16 gained, 22 declined and 63 remained unchanged.
