Coronavirus: Global death toll reaches 482,162

Global deaths from the novel coronavirus infection reached 482,162 as of Thursday morning, according to the data provided by Johns Hopkins University.

So far, 9,407,078 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.

Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.

Among the currently 3,866,747 infected patients, 3,808,326 are in mild condition, which is 98 per cent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand, 58,421 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only two.

So far, 4,729,423 people have recovered.

In Bangladesh, 37 patients died from Covid-19 over the last 24 hours as of Wednesday, taking the death toll to 1,582.

Besides, 3,462 more people tested positive for the virus, which makes 122,660 confirmed cases in total.
