The global death toll from the novel coronavirus infection reached 498,135 as of Sunday morning, according to the Johns Hopkins University tally.
So far, 9,950,945 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.
Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.
Among the currently 4,121,878 infected patients, 4,064,130 are in mild condition, which is 99 per cent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand, 57,748 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only one.
So far, 5,031,722 people have recovered.
In Bangladesh, 34 patients died from Covid-19 in the country over the last 24 hours as of Saturday, taking the death toll to 1,695.
Besides, 3,504 more people tested positive for the virus, which makes 133,978 confirmed cases in total.
