The global death toll from the novel coronavirus infection stood at 504,927 as of Tuesday morning, according to the data by the Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University.
So far, 10,275,392 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.
Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.
Among the currently 4,235,948 infected patients, 4,178,418 are in mild condition, which is 99 per cent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand, 57,530 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only one.
So far, 5,219,375 people have recovered.
In Bangladesh, 45 patients died from Covid-19 over the last 24 hours as of Monday, taking the death toll to 1,783. Besides, 4,014 more people tested positive, which is the highest single-day record of new infections in the country, making 141,801 confirmed cases in total.
