GP writ challenging BTRC bar: HC removes from its cause list

The High Court on Monday removed Grameenphone's (GP) writ petition challenging the restrictions imposed on the mobile operator by Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) from its cause list.

The HC virtual bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim has passed the order.

Barrister Mostafijur Rahman Khan was present on behalf of GP while BTRC Lawyer Barrister Khandaker Reza-E-Rakib was also present.

On 29 Jun 2020, GP filed a writ petition with the High Court (HC) seeking a stay on the two restrictions imposed by Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BRTC).

Earlier, BTRC on June 21 imposed two new restrictions on Grameenphone.

Those restrictions include that GP will have to take prior approval from BTRC to announce any new packages or offers.
