Stocks gain momentum on second day of week

Trading at both of the stock exchanges of the country (DSE & CSE) ended on the high on the second working day of the week.

Indices on both the markets increased on Monday. At the same time, the amount of transactions also went up than that of the previous day.

However, share and unit prices of most of the companies participating in the transactions remained unchanged.

On Monday, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) DSEX increased by 13 points, standing at 3,995 points. The Shariah Index increased by 1 points, the DSE-30 Index by 7 points and the CDSET by 4 points; settling at 922 points, 1,343 points and 794 points respectively.

Shares and units of Tk150.06 crore were traded on the DSE on Monday – which is also better than the previous day.

Of the 296 issues traded, 57 gained, 23 fell while 216 remained unchanged.

On the other hand, the key index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) CASPI increased by 33 points to settle at 11,339 points on Monday. Shares and units worth of Tk89.17 crore were traded at the CSE.

Among the 119 issues traded during the day, 36 gained, 16 declined and 67 remained unchanged.
