No cash dividend from 4 listed banks

The board of directors of four banks listed with Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) did not announce cash dividend for shareholders despite making a hefty net profit of Tk 559.03 crore last year.

The four banks are AB Bank, IFIC Bank, Rupali Bank and First Security Islami Bank.

Instead of paying cash dividend from profit amount the banks will provide bonus stocks to their shareholders. In this case dividend payout ratio will be zero compared to profit of the banks.

In the previous fiscal year, 17 listed banks followed this principle. The banks were Dutch-Bangla Bank, Premier Bank, BRAC Bank, Mercantile Bank, Mutual Trust Bank, Rupali Bank, One Bank, National Bank, Shahjalal Islami Bank, Trust Bank, Standard Bank, IFIC Bank, Southeast Bank, United Commercial Bank, First Security Bank, Social Islami Bank and AB Bank. These banks made a profit of Tk 3,673.79 crore that particular year.
