DSE market PE ratio rises 17.20pc in one week

The overall Price-to-Earnings ratio (PE) ratio of the country's main stock exchange, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), increased by 17.20 per cent in the outgoing week.

This information has been found from sources in the DSE.

At the beginning of the week, the PE ratio of DSE was at 9.30 points. Which currently is at 10.90 points at the end of the week. In other words, the PE ratio has increased by 1.60 points or 17.20 per cent during the week.

At the end of the week, the PE ratio of the banking sector stands at 6.69 points, IT sector at 13.96 points, textile at 13.25 points, pharmaceuticals and chemicals at 16.79 points, engineering at 13.37 points, insurance at 11.06 points, food at 7.531 points, leather at 21.87 points, cement at 26.01 points, power and energy at 10.29 points, financial at 20.90 points, travel and leisure at 30.90 points, paper at 43.70 points, telecommunications at 9.29 points, services and housing at 11.18 points, ceramic at 20.31 points, jute at 30.87 points, and finally, the miscellaneous sector settles at 20.10 points.
