Covid-19: Global death toll reaches 564,420

Global deaths from the novel coronavirus infection reached 564,420 as of Sunday morning, according to the data by the Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University.

So far, 12,681,472 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.

Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.

Among the currently 4,795,747 infected patients, 4,736,915 are in mild condition, which is 99 per cent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand, 58,832 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only one.

So far, 6,980,671 people have recovered.

In Bangladesh, 30 patients died from Covid-19 over the last 24 hours as of Saturday, taking the death toll to 2,305.

Besides, 2,686 more people tested positive for the virus, which makes 181,129 confirmed cases in total.
