Covid-19: Global death toll reaches 577,843

Global deaths from the novel coronavirus infection reached 577,843 as of Wednesday morning, according to the data by the Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University.

So far, 13,284,292 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.

Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.

Among the currently 5,029,011 infected patients, 4,969,43 are in mild condition, which is 99 per cent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand, 59,579 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only one.

So far, 7,373,782 people have recovered.

In Bangladesh, 33 patients died from Covid-19 and 3,163 more people tested positive for the virus as of Tuesday, taking the death toll to 2,424 and the total number of confirmed cases to 190,057.
