The global death toll from the novel coronavirus infection reached 601,213 as of Sunday morning, according to the Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University.
So far, 14,241,343 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.
Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.
Among the currently 5,207,669 infected patients, 5,147,756 are in mild condition, which is 99 per cent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand, 59,913 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only one.
So far, 7,992,126 people have recovered.
In Bangladesh, the total number of infections crossed the 200,000-mark with 2,709 more people being tested positive in the last 24 hours as of Saturday, making 202,066 confirmed cases in total.
Besides, 34 patients died from Covid-19, taking the death toll to 2,581.
