BSEC seizes Shurwid directors' BO accounts

The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has decided to seize BO accounts of all directors of Shurwid Industries for non-payment of dividends.

Shurwid Industries declared 10 percent cash dividend for its shareholders in for the last financial year. Consent of the shareholders was taken at an Annual General Meeting (AGM). However, shareholders have complained to BSEC for against Shurwid for not paying them the declared dividend till date.

BSEC Executive director and spokesperson Rezaul Karim said, “Shurwid Industries did not pay dividends to investors. Multiple shareholders have lodged complaints with BSEC and DSE."

However, the company said the issue of dividend payment has been postponed due to the coronavirus situation.
