Stocks show positive intend ahead of Eid

Stocks in both the stock exchanges in Dhaka and Chattogram continued to show positive intend as bourses at both houses gained on Wednesday.

DSEX, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 14.66 points or 0.35 per cent to settle at 4171 during the four hours trading.

Among the two other indices, the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) rose 0.80 points to close at 965. However, the DS30 index, comprising blue chips, saw a fractional loss of 0.75 points to finish at 1402 points. 

Turnover, another important indicator of the market, stood at almost Taka 4 billion on the country’s prime bourse, Taka 450.82 down from that of the previous working day.

Of the 353 issues traded, 169 remained unchanged while 126 issues advanced and 58 declined on the DSE floor.

A total number of 95,161 trades were executed in the day’s trading session with a trading volume of 111.60 million shares and mutual fund units.

The top 10 gainers considering the closing price of the day were -- Pioneer Insurance, United Insurance, Mercantile Insurance, Reliance Insurance, Eastern Insurance, Federal Insurance, Paramount Insurance, City General Insurance, GQ Ball Pen and Delta Life Insurance.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with its All Shares Price Index (CASPI)—gaining 40.65 points to close at 11875 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX –rising 24.91 points to finish at 7200.

Of the 220 issues traded, 93 gained, 27 declined and 100 remained unchanged on the CSE.

3.80 million shares and mutual fund units were traded at the CSE with a turnover value of Taka 142.94 million.
