Stocks maintain upward trend

All the indices in both the stock exchanges in the country continued upward trend on Wednesday. Transactions also went up alongside indices in both the DSE and the CSE.

On Wednesday, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) DSEX went up by 8 points. However, among other DSE indices, the Shariah Index (DSES) decreased by 2 points to finish at 997 and the DSE-30 Index, comprising blue chips, by 2 points to close at 1452 points.

Shares and units of Tk 718.34 crore were traded on the DSE on Wednesday. Of the 352 issues traded, 155 gained, 123 fell while 74 remained unchanged.

The market-cap on the premier bourse also rose to Taka 3,318 billion on Wednesday, from Taka 3,312 billion in the previous session.

Pioneer Insurance topped the turnover chart, followed by Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company, Beximco and Indo-Bangla Pharma.

Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company was the day’s best performer, posting a gain of 10 per cent while Samata Leather Complex was the worst loser, losing 5.85 per cent.

On the other hand, the key index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) CASPI went up by 44 points to 12,230 points on Wednesday. Shares and units worth of Tk 17.40 crore were traded at the CSE.

Among the 264 issues traded during the day, 113 gained, 90 declined and 61 remained unchanged.
